Bearing Removal and Installation Tools
Aero Staking’s Bearing Removal and Installation Tools offer a precise and reliable solution for aerospace bearing maintenance and installation. These tools are specifically designed to streamline the process of safely removing and installing bearings, ensuring that they are perfectly aligned and secure. Improper bearing handling can lead to misalignment, damage, or even bearing failure, which can pose significant risks in high-stakes environments like aerospace. That’s why using specialized tools is essential for maintaining operational safety and precision.
Drill Press Install / Removal Tool (ASIR-DP)
The advantage of using ASIR tooling, other than ease of dismounting worn bearing, is the ability to insert the bearing into the housing properly and effortlessly.
Bearing installation operations usually incorporate fits. Yet, it is required to insert the bearing perfectly square. Without using the ASIR tooling, tilting, misalignment, or bearing damage can occur.
Bearing Removal & Extraction Tools are used to pull out previously cut off bearing from bore or from the housing in HOB application. Drill press or arbor operated device is used to remove old, cut bearing from its housing to properly install new bearing in the housing.
ASIR Drill Press utilizes:
- Arbor Press
- Drill Press
- Bridgeport / Jet / Kent or similar
- Knee type Mill
Overview of Bearing Removal Tools
Aero Staking provides a range of tools, such as the Drill Press Removal Tool (ASIR-DP), which simplifies the process of dismounting worn or damaged bearings from their housings. This tool ensures the proper extraction of bearings from their bores without causing damage to the housing, making it easier to install new bearings. The Portable Installer/Remover Tool (ASIR) is another valuable tool in Aero Staking’s arsenal, designed for tight, hard-to-reach spaces, and it is operated with a standard wrench. This tool excels in removing previously cut bearings and is ideal for on-wing repairs where space and mobility are limited.
Portable Installer / Remover Tool (ASIR)
It is usually hard to remove tight-pressed bearing from its mount. Aero Staking ASIR, using mechanical principles of force distribution as: bolt/nut tightening, enables operator to quickly and effortlessly remove the bearing using ordinary wrench.
ASIR is very helpful while taking out, previously cut, old bearing from the bore or during bearing removal from housing in HOB applications.
This tool is being used ‘on wing’ and in constrained, hard-to-get-to places.
Aero Staking designed this tool to remove old or broken bearing from its mount (or housing) and also to appropriately (evenly) install the new bearing into the bore.
Improper bearing installation can cause damage to bearing; its failure can sometimes cause injury or death.
The aircraft maintenance mechanic would use this device in ‘on wing repair’ applications as well as ‘in shop’ repairs or at the level of bearings assembly in manufacturing processes.
Aero Staking also designed this tool to square install the new bearing in tight-fit holes. This tool properly, (perpendicularly) aligns the bearing and then safely pushes it into its proper depth determined by tool’s allowed travel.
Installation Tools for Precision Fit
Aero Staking’s ASIR Tools are engineered to provide precise, square installations of bearings, reducing the risk of tilting, misalignment, or damage. Proper installation is crucial to avoid future bearing failure, which could result in costly repairs or even safety hazards. These tools are designed to work with various platforms, including drill presses, knee-type mills, and portable systems, allowing flexibility for a wide range of applications. By ensuring the bearing is inserted perfectly square, the tools prevent damage to both the bearing and housing.
Key Benefits
- Ease of Use: The ASIR tools use mechanical principles like bolt/nut tightening, making them user-friendly and efficient for quick removal and installation of bearings.
- On-Wing Flexibility: Designed for use in restricted areas, the ASIR tools can be used for on-wing repairs, minimizing downtime and eliminating the need for extensive disassembly.
- Safety and Reliability: Properly installed bearings last longer and operate more safely. Aero Staking’s tools reduce the risk of installation errors that could lead to failure, protecting both equipment and personnel.
Applications
Aero Staking’s Bearing Removal and Installation Tools are ideal for use in manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities. These tools are critical in environments where precision is paramount, particularly in the aerospace industry. Whether in the assembly of new components or the maintenance of existing ones, Aero Staking’s tools ensure that bearings are installed and removed with precision and care. This level of accuracy is essential in both on-wing repairs and shop-based maintenance.
